UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (UIT), MUHAMMA

University Institute of Technology (UIT), Muhamma Regional Centre, a Higher Education Institution, directly managed by Kerala University has started its voyage of unmatched professionalism and educational excellence with undisputed institutional quality since 5th October 2017. Shri. M. Thomas Issac,( Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Govt. of Kerala), inaugurated this Regional Centre as per the decision taken by the syndicate of University of Kerala on 11.08.2017 along with other UIT Centres at Pathiyoor, Muthukulam, Mannancherry and Aroor in Alappuzha District. The College became a functional Academic Institution from the first month itself with an aim for the educational upsurge of all spheres of society. Presently the college offers two UG Courses, B.COM CO-OPERATION & BBA. UIT, Muhamma was first started in the premises of Mannancherry Panchayath building. In the beginning, the college had a sanctioned intake of 60 students- 30 in BBA and 30 in B.com along with 6 Teaching and 1 Non-teaching staff. Smt. R S Sinimol, Lecturer in Mathematics, UIT Alappuzha was deputed as in charge of the Principal at the initial stage. Prof K Rajan joined as the First Principal of the college on 13/11/2018 and is still continuing.

During 2017 the college was shifted to own building situated in Govt Sanskrit High School campus, Kayippuram, Muhamma. Subsequently a new building block was constructed with the financial assistance of Alappuzha District Panchayath. Further improvement of the infrastructural facilities of the college is still going on with the financial assistance from Alappuzha District Panchayath and the University of Kerala. The PTA of our College lead by a panel of 12 members; 6 from the teaching category, 5 from the parents and the Principal plays a vital role in creating a close bond between the parents and teachers and to guide the students in the right direction. Annual sports meet and Arts Day are conducted every year in order to provide opportunity to the students to present their talents in the respective events. Our students actively participate in various activities like Blood donation camps, Palliative care activities, distribution of study kits, food and medicine distribution for the patients and afforestation activities. Within a period of three years, the Students of UIT Muhamma was able to receive the appreciation and acclaim of the entire Society in Alappuzha.

Career guidance and Placement are two important features of our college. Every year, orientation classes are conducted to explore the employment opportunities available in various sectors of our economy and to equip our students to exploit such opportunities. The general discipline of this Institute is very conducive for learning and research. No academic hour is lost due to strikes or other unrests. Hence the general public is always enthusiastic to get admission for their children at UIT Muhamma.
